Hi friends! It is time for part two of my currently reading posts, because if you’ve seen my Goodreads you probably think I’ve lost it*. I cannot stop starting books but if you’re expecting me to get more than halfway through, I’m sorry to say you might be disappointed. I truly failed my imaginary TBR.
*you’re not wrong
Descendant of the Crane by Joan He | I’m so thankful to be on the street team for this! And lemme tell you: this is crazy good so far. Fantasy often ignores so many of the inner-workings of the world but Joan seriously has the BEST world-building here! There’s an actual law trial but also tons of action and the entire book feels infused with Chinese culture: BEHOLD MY NEW OBSESSION. Oh! And we’re looking at 4.5/5 stars right now!
Sherwood by Meagan Spooner | Another e-ARC! I am honestly in awe of Spooner’s writing? She somehow perfectly wrote her characters to the point where I’m desperately missing a character I barely even knew. I can’t even with the incredible quality of this retelling! And can we just appreciate that cover?! Like, if I were her, I’d have impaled myself on an arrow cuz I tripped and fell off that cliff. I’d be the heroine no one asked for! (also this is at 5/5 stars as of now).
Blanca and Roja by Anna-Marie McLemore | I am in AWE. This writing is gorgeous in a rare way. It’s the kind of writing that doesn’t just paint pictures, it paints entire worlds. Entire stories. I honestly relate to Blanca and Roja in two completely different, but utterly equal ways. We’re looking at 4/5 stars!
The Wicked King by Holly Black | I WANT TO SCREAM. I finally got my hold from the library, devoured the first 50 pages, and promptly got distracted by something else BUT STILL. This book is already better than the first! I’m excited yet terrified to get to the second half of this book because I know the twists hit me over the head again and again and again and again and I’m hyped. 5/5 is my prediction (if you couldn’t tell by my incessant rambling XD)
The Everlasting Rose by Dhonielle Clayton | I’m not super far in but already I remember how much I ship Rémy and Camille because FEELS. And Clayton’s writing is always so delectable and sugary and rich and lush. 4/5 stars!
So that’s it! Tell me: what are you currently reading? Should I prioritize any of these?
