Tag Tuesday: Top 5 Most Anticipated Releases From Jan-Mar 2022!

I do a most anticipated releases post every month…but why not make it harder on myself and talk about my most anticipated releases for the entire first quarter of the year? Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Meeghan @ Meeghan Reads.

I think that this follows a morally grey monster, who is forced to work with a monster family who hates her own to take down a monster slayer. Also, the main character is biracial! If there was any doubt in the world that I would be foaming at the mouth for this one, let me stop you right there. Delete those doubts. This comes out on February 22!

Why is this cover so beautiful? Why does Axie Oh literally have the most gorgeous covers ever? Anyway, after absolutely loving XOXO last year, this book has only risen in the ranks of “books I need to get to before I mentally collapse”. I still don’t know what it’s about except that it focuses on retelling a popular Korean tale, complete with Spirit Realms and a sea god and a quest to awaken said sea god. Another February 22 release!

I’m not entirely sure how to feel about this one. On the one hand, this is Sabaa Tahir. Author of the incredible Ember Quartet, now writing a contemporary story meant to reflect her own experiences. On the other hand…it’s hard for me to jump into a favorite author’s contemporary story when I know and love them for their fantasy (see: Marissa Meyer). But you know what? I have faith, trust, and pixie dust in Sabaa Tahir to break my heart in the modern world. All I know is that this follows two generations, one of Pakistani immigrants and the other of their children. This comes out March 1!

If you told younger me (hyped up on all the actually good Barbie movies) that a Three Musketeers retelling would be released featuring a disabled female heroine, I would have lost it. Do I need to continue waxing poetic nonsense? And by poetic, I mean any reference to Barbie. Seriously, the classics will never die. And I’m desperately excited for this book to bring all the magic back to this tale. One For All comes out on March 8th!

I got nothing to say except that this duology is named The Book of Tea. The title is literally A Magic Steeped in Poison. What the heck. And if that wasn’t enough to very nearly off me before the mafia can, there is a competition aspect to this novel. What the heck. This comes out on March 22!

That’s it! What’s your most anticipated read for the first quarter? Are you excited for these books as well?

  3. I don’t think I could pick a top five. Maybe not even top ten, there are just too many wonderful sounding books coming out!! Definitely want to read all five of these though. I can’t believe I still need to read An Ember In The Ashes (this year I must!!) but her contemporary sounds like it’ll be devasting. I hope that you love all of these.
