Tag Tuesday: Top 5 Character Driven Books

Hi friends! Today, we’re going to be doing another Tag Tuesday and the topic is character driven books! I’m not exactly sure what qualifies a book as character driven so I’m instead I’m going to pick books where the characters are a huge focus.

Shanah @ Bionic Bookworm hosts Top 5 Tuesday, so go check her blog out!

The Raven Cycle by Maggie Steifvater

Despite not loving this series, I do adore the characters! Without Blue and her Raven Boys, I’d have DNF’d it a long time ago. Also, can we just take a moment to appreciate Richard Campbell Gansey III?

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

There is so much to this story, this powerful, impactful story, but the characters make this book shine. They are real, and genuine, and drive the book forwards with ease.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

While the plot in this book is amazing and twisty and gasp-worthy, you can’t deny that the real appeal lies in the characters! Kaz, Inej, Jesper, Matthias, Nina, Wylan…they are all so different and fleshed-out and I honestly doubt this book could have gotten as far as it did without such awesome people to live in it.

Words In Deep Blue by Cath Crowley

The entire book revolved around the emotional journeys of the characters, and it was so incredible to witness! I really adored how much was focused on overcoming grief and the obstacles of friendship and love.

The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon

Speaking of powerful books, this is so beautiful and inspiring and heartbreaking all at the same time. And there’s barely any semblance of a plot! This is honestly one of the best books out there, character driven or otherwise.

So that’s a wrap! I always wanted to say that…anyway, see ya soon, au revoir!
