bank it or bin #4 // my tbr oh no-

Hi guys! I’m back with another edition of Bank it or Bin it, created by the amazing Vee_Bookish! The funniest part about doing this is that as I went onto Goodreads to check my Want To Read list (which is at 716 books btw) I saw a book that caught my eye and added it to my TBR. We’re really off to a great start aren’t we?

Sure, maybe I haven’t read this book yet even though I’ve had it for 5 years now. I just need to find time to reread the series properly! And it’s quite hard when I have a NetGalley problem (please send help). So I am obviously banking this one!

Oh my gosh, I added this book so long ago. Red Rising is a staple of the old-school booktube community, and is still considered a classic amongst sci-fi dystopian fans. I mean, look at how much the Fairyloot special editions are selling for (answer: over $600). Therefore, I have to bank it.

Welcome to another edition of me adding multiple series by authors set in the same world without reading any of the ones that came before. Tamora Pierce is a beloved author as she’s one of the oldest in the YA world (as far as I know). Anyways, this series is one I know nothing about but have heard is the best starting place with her books so it’s getting banked*!

*all of these “banks” are getting both humiliating and slightly concerning

Okay…I am relatively picky about middle-grade stories? Also, I haven’t read anything by Tahereh Mafi yet. But I heard this has colors and creativity? WHICH I ADORE??? Aghh but I don’t own it. So I suppose this means I should bin it…

I adore Beauty and the Beast retellings but I have no idea what this is about. At all. Also, the cover isn’t really capturing me so I guess this is a bin?

So that’s it! 3 banked, 2 binned. I think I’m going to do another one of these posts this week because we have a long way to go until (relative) TBR freedom.Tell me: have you read any of these books? Do you agree with my choices?

  1. Fun! I did a different version of the ‘bank or bin it’ post a few years ago and then I just stopped but with the way my TBR is growing, I feel like I should get back on it 😂 I have Red Rising and Hunted on my TBR and have previously banked both but now I feel like I would bin the latter too. Furthermore also has the most gorgeous cover but I’ve heard not great things about it so I binned it too!

  2. ok ok but THE COVER OF EMPTY GRAVE????? AM SCREAMING BASICALLY and also possibly running onto goodreads to add it to my tbr BECAUSE CREEPY COVERS ARE HIGHLY INTRIGUING AND I LOVE!! I dont know anything about hunted either except the ‘being a beauty and the beast retelling’ part BUT I’VE READ QUOTES FROM IT THAT ARE AMAZING SO??? I’M KIND OF EXCITED??? plus if i remember correctly THE MAIN CHARACTER LOVES READING WHICH IS ALWAYS A PLUS??

    1. IKR IT’S SO CREEPY AND BEAUTIFUL i’d honestly recommend the entire series because it’s the perfect amount of creepiness and humor. AH i didn’t realize that the main character loves reading??? I HOPE YOU LOVE IT bc i honestly might add it back onto my tbr at this point🤣🤣

  3. I love this post. I haven’t read Hunted yet, but I do have to disagree with you on the cover. I think the cover of Hunted holds mystery to it. It makes me wonder what the girl is looking at, and after I read the info on Goodreads it really peaked my interest and makes me wonder if she heard something out there in the woods and is looking for the Beast.

    1. thank you so much! reading your thoughts on the cover for hunted has made me give it a second look, and you’re right! it’s very much like a mysterious snapshot of a scene right before something exciting happens! it almost makes me wish i hadn’t binned it LOL. thanks for sharing your thoughts!💜
