Hi friends! I obviously haven’t gotten myself together yet to make a favorites list but here are my top 3 most surprising reads to tide y’all over!
If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio | There are no words for this. If We Were Villains was the only Friday Fright-A-Thon book I got to read and I don’t regret it AT ALL. It’s slow and beautiful and slowly devolves into the twisty, complex darkness of the characters and what secrets they’re keeping. I had no expectations whatsoever, except possibly hoping to be surprised by a twist but this was so much more.
Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young | I read this as my fist e-ARC ever and didn’t know much about anything. But then there was action and slow moments and sweet moments and emotional moments and atmospheric writing. I closed the book, and realized I had somehow gotten this deep love of these characters.
The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson | I was really just in shock after finishing this. Not because I wasn’t expecting not to like it but because PLOT TWISTS. Everything that happens in this book is the culmination of the events of the previous books and I just can’t deal.

A Fictional Bookworm 
I want to read the first two so bad! I have n’t read anything by Sanderson yet so I’m a bit lost as where to start but I’ll do a little digging and try to figure that out soon because I’ve heard he’s an author NOT to be missed 🙂

Oh, I hope you enjoy them both when you get to them! And I feel you, there’s so many books it’s hard to know where to start! I’ve personally read a couple of his YA books and his Mistborn Trilogy, and they were all quite fascinating.

I’ve seen a couple good things about A SKY IN THE DEEP – I’ll have to check it out! Congrats on finishing the (first) Mistborn trilogy! That ending…..ooooff lol. (But so good.)

Ah, great list! Love the idea of surprising reads…some of the books that didn’t make my last favorites list would probably be on a list like this one. I haven’t read any of these so I’ll have to take a look at them. 🙂

Oh I am super excited to read Sky in the Deep!!! I think my biggest surprise this year was Open Mic Night at Westminster Cemetery by Mary Amato. It’s a different kind of read and I really enjoyed it! Great post!
