Tag Thursday: Top 10 Books I Love That Were Written 10 Years Ago!

Editor’s Note: In the light of all the recent drama, I wanted to get my post regarding Bookish Box out on Tuesday. However, I’d already written this post, so I figured we might as well make it a Top 10 Thursday!

I read an astonishingly embarrassing amount of new, shiny books. But there are some gems out there that came out before 2012! So that’s why I’m doing today’s Top 10 Tuesday topic, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl!

This was released on January 3rd, 2012 so it definitely counts. I adore Cinder with my whole heart and soul and this series will forever be one of my all-time favorite fairytale retellings!

I saw The Atlas Paradox and momentarily forgot the topic and went to talk about it*. Anyways, my actual pick Little Women is a classic but an actually good one! It’s not boring! Or weird! It’s just a good tale of sisters and the loves and losses that make up their lives**.

*yeah yeah yeah, ik I need help
**also timothee chalamet is in the live action version sooooo this book is already god-tier

Speaking of unfairly attractive men in book adapations*, Dylan O’Brian was in the Percy Jackson movie we do not speak of! The book is obviously superior and magnificent and apparently came out in 2005 so I feel old.

*i’m not being shallow at all today what are you talking about

Harry Potter and The Sorceror’s Stone is so old but always feels so new to me. It’s kind of funny.

I love Narnia! I often forget that it was written in the 1950s, but there’s something so nostalgic about The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe especially. I think this book’s begging to be reread in winter.

I LOVE NANCY DREW BOOKS. Oh my gosh, they’re the original mysteries to me! And when Nancy would team up with the Hardy Boys…perfection.

City of Bones* is surprisingly older than I thought. It’s like 15 years old. Anyways, I do love this series so I’m happy that it’s still a favorite!

*if anyone here was expecting this list to have a hint of chronological sense, I’m sorry for disappointing you

I cannot believe that The Night Circus came out in 2011, and The Starless Sea came out in 2019. I guess that means I might be able to read 2-3 more Erin Morgenstern books before I die?

This series is one of my all-time favorite YA series and yet it is so underrated! It’s a crime!

So that’s it! Tell me: what’s one of your favorite books that have been released over 10 years ago?

  1. It’s always jarring when I see Night Circus on these lists because there’s like this part of my brain that refuses to believe it was published so long ago 😂 And oof, that Nancy Drew book! I remember having that on my shelf when I was a kid… So long ago 🙈 Great list!
