Tag Tuesday: Top 5 Books I Didn’t Get To In 2021!

This topic is so embarrassing because no matter what I read…I never read what I say I’m going to read. So let’s talk about my failures, shall we? Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Meeghan @ Meeghan Reads.

I’m thinking that if I just continually add this to all my playlists then maybe my subconscious will get the hint.

I really wanted to read more of Riley Sager last year since Survive The Night is his fifth book but uh that didn’t happen. I will say that this is his worst-reviewed one though? So I’m a little bit scared to read it?

Someone said that this was The Princess Diaries but make it Japanese. Ever since, I’ve been desperate to read this. The only problem? I can’t figure out if I want to read it on audio or not.

Tfw you’re unmarried but domestic thrillers really intrigue you anyways. I’ve heard such good things about this one but the library waiting list is about as a long as a hobbit’s grocery list. I’m really hoping it lives up to the hype!

All’s Well features a Shakespeare play I haven’t read yet but the concept is still too good to pass up! All I know is that this follows a disabled theater professor who, in the process of attempting to stage All’s Well That Ends Well, magically recovers from her chronic pain. Apparently, this is supposed to dive into the discussion on the “collective refusal to believe female pain” so I’m very interested in this.

  1. Lol I relate so much to ‘I never read what I say I’m going to read’! But then I think everyone does too? (at least I’m hoping that’s the case BECAUSE WE CAN’T END UP FINDING OUT WE’RE ALL ALONE RIGHT?) I haven’t read any of the ones from this list, but I do remember dnf-ing Tokyo Ever After about halfway through. I didn’t hate it exactly, LIKE IT DIDN’T MEET MY EXPECTATIONS EITHER, but I just wasn’t in the contemporary mood at the time? BUT I REALLY HOPE YOU END UP LOVING IT, and cannot wait to hear your thoughts! (also, the narration for the audiobook is MAGNIFICENT I TELL YOU, *AHEM* just saying 😉)

    1. LOL YES! I feel like we all have TBRs that we totally fail at keeping🤣🤣 Oh no, I’m sorry to hear that! I totally get it, you have to be in the mood for something specifically (that’s why Firekeeper’s Daughter is on my “to pick up again at a later time shelf” haha. Ooh, I think I’ll go the audiobook route then! I hope you have an amazing February💜

  2. Look, I think so long as we’re enjoying what we’re reading, then we’re winning regardless of what it is. (At least that’s what I tell myself when I put these prompts in!! 😓)
I cannot recommend Tokyo Ever After more — it was so completely adorable and it’s exactly The Princess Diaries, but make is Japanese. Also a little bit What a Girl Wants if you’ve seen that too!
Hope you enjoy all of these when you get to them, and I also hope you had fun this week 💕
