I think I’m going to try to switch things up for these “most anticipated” posts, so let me know what you think!
January Releases I’ve Already Read
When You Get The Chance by Emma Lord | Would I recommend? Yes! My review for this one will be up in about a week, just in time for its January 4th release date. If you enjoy sweet, heartfelt contemporaries that have rivals-to-lovers romance, a focus on biological and found family, and musical theater, just go pick this one up right now. Seriously. Rep: Chinese-American love interest, w/w side characters.
Anatomy: A Love Story by Dana Schwartz | Would I recommend? It depends. Personally, I found Anatomy’s vision of being a historical mystery, coming-of-age story, and romance to be poorly executed. That doesn’t mean everyone else will feel that way though! This follows a girl named Hazel, who wants to be a female surgeon. My review for this will be up before its January 18th release date.
My Personal Most Anticipated January Book Releases
Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan | Rep: Chinese cast and folklore. I am so incredibly excited for this story of a girl who accidentally reveals her magic and must go on the run from the Celestial Emperor, leaving her mother behind. That cover is too jaw-dropping for words. Also, Nihaarika @ Clouded Galaxy Reads has a fantastic review of this one that makes me want to read it even more!
The Red Palace by June Hur | Rep: Korean-American author, Korean setting and characters. This historical Korean mystery follows a girl named Hyeon who works as a palace nurse. After her teacher is accused of murdering four women in one night, Hyeon works with an investigator named Eojin to find the real murderer. Lia @ An Ode To Fiction has a great review if you want to know more about it!
