Tag Tuesday: Top 5 Books By POC I Haven’t Read Yet in 2021!

Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Meeghan @ Meeghan Reads. It’s that time of the year where the “best books of 2021” lists are released and I feel like I haven’t read many books in 2021. So let’s talk about 5 that I really wanted to get to! Also, happy early Thanksgiving everyone!

I just recently finished These Violent Delights and am reeling from that ending. So of course now I’m desperate to get my hands on the sequel! After all, Roma and Juliette are just >>> and that’s on truth. Plus I’m terrified of spoilers so I should maybe pick this one up soon.

Heard this was about a biracial soul-collecting girl and came running. I mean, reapers and shinigami and hunting Yokai demons in Japan? And great reviews from some trusted blogger friends? I want to read this so badly it’s not even funny anymore.

Another book about a biracial girl but this time, featuring a mystery. I believe that this dives deeply into the effects of colonialism, especially on the Ojibwe community. I actually own this book so I desperately want to get to it before the year ends!

Six Crimson Cranes is a retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Wild Swans fairytale with Asian influences and I’m obsessed with both this concept and cover. I might not have loved Spin the Dawn but I have high hopes for this one!

Everyone’s been hyping up this as Avatar the Last Airbender meets We Hunt The Flame and I have wanted to read this for so long the image of the title without a cover is still in my WordPress library! Like, how have I not achieved my ultimate goal of reading this yet???

So that’s it! Is there a book by a POC author that you want to read but haven’t gotten to yet? Or is there one you’d recommend with your whole heart and soul?

  1. I need to read all of these!! The top two are Six Crimson Cranes & Jade Fire Gold but Keeper Of Night is a very close third. I really need to get on with A Song Of Wraiths & Ruins ASAP. And I strongly recommend Kingdom Of Souls. Ooh and, if you like adult fantasy as well as YA, then Black Sun as it was just epic. No other word is strong enough!!
