Tag Tuesday: Top 5 Hyped Books I Love! // yeah yeah i’m cliche i know

Hi friends! I’m back with another Top 5 Tuesday post hosted by Meeghan @ Meeghan Reads and today we’re discussing hyped books we love.

would i even be me if i didn’t mention this series first?

This is probably my favorite trilogy of all time. Yes, it’s partly the steampunk Victorian London setting. Yes, it’s partly the hilarious banter of William Herondale and everyone else. But I’ve never read a romance quite like this one. The love triangle makes each and every character feel fully fleshed out, broken and lonely and loving and human. There is no amount of hype in the world that would be undeserved, in my opinion.

Maybe I should have put Six of Crows…I like a lot of hyped books okay. Anyways, this is a series that was hyped specifically because it was being compared to the hype of Six of Crows. And I love both of them to very dearly, in different ways. The Gilded Wolves was so incredibly rich, in writing, in lore, and in magic. I absolutely adored it*.

*wow i just…ran off into a rabbit hole into wonderland with this one. if you don’t understand what i was trying to say don’t worry. i don’t either.

I feel so basic with this post wow. Anyways, The Lunar Chronicles will always and forever be one of my all-time favorite series. It takes some of my most favorite fairy-tales in the whole world and reimagines them brilliantly with a diverse cast of characters. I’m not the biggest fan of sci-fi but I don’t care at all when it comes to this series.

I genuinely wasn’t expecting this to be anywhere near as good as it was hyped up to be only because I hadn’t seen a single negative review. But obviously there was a good reason for that! Everything about this book is so, so good. Sure, there were some aspects that could be improved upon. But overall, this did contain Selwyn Kane* so yeah.

*let’s play a game called “what’s the ratio of times i mention selwyn kane to times i mention the book itself”

If you know me, then you know that YA mysteries and I have a rocky road relationship. However, A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder? It’s worth every salt and pepper of hype that’s thrown at the genre. It’s twisty, exciting, and actually has layers. I just finished the sequel and can say with certainty that this is one of the best series I’ve ever read.

So that’s it! I could have named another 5 or 10 because I’m the queen of basic but 5 is enough for now! Tell me: what’s a hyped book that YOU love???
