Hi friends! I’m here to talk about April, which was full of crunchtime for school and not a lot of reading. So this will be kinda short but that’s fine! I did finish two-three books from my April TBR so I’m semi-pleased with that.
Luck of the Titanic by Stacey Lee | I’ve already talked about this one a lot but tl;dr is that this is inspired by true accounts of Chinese men aboard the Titanic. It follows a British-Chinese acrobat who boards the boat to find her twin and convince him to join the circus in America with her. I gave this a 3.75/5 stars.
From Little Tokyo, With Love by Sarah Kuhn | I’ve talked about this one before too (and hopefully I can write my review and get it up soon!) but to summarize: this is a novel about a Japanese-American girl named Rika who doesn’t quite fit the mold of “fairy-princess”, but ends up going on an adventure around Little Tokyo searching for her biological mother with the help of a celebrity boy*.
*wow that was a long sentence. i’m impressed by my own lack of grammar.
I watched Titanic for the first time ever (I know, I know) and pretty much sobbed the entirety of the last hour. It’s honestly one of my favorite movies of all time now and I could probably write a whole essay or blog post on how much I adore it but I uh should probably shut up now. I accidentally watched almost all of Jujutsu Kaisen in one weekend and I NEED MORE. Someone save me from this obsession. I started Shadow and Bone and haven’t finished it yet. Freddy Carter has grown on me as Kaz Brekker, but he’s still not darkly edgy grim enough. That wasn’t the right combo of adjectives but hey, this is the post of me rambling.
That’s it! I genuinely can’t remember all the music I’ve really listened to over the past month barring the Titanic Collector’s Edition and random songs. Tell me what you’ve been up to this month!
