Most Anticipated April Releases!! // five books i am so excited for

Hi friends! I can’t believe it’s already April and I’m talking about new releases again, but here we are. My reading habits are not able to keep up with this demand of books.

April 6th

Kisses and Croissants by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau | I don’t usually read contemporaries, but this is set in Paris. It’s about an American ballerina and a French boy who’s a tour guide. Like, what better way is there to welcome in the spring mood.

The Infinity Courts by Akemi Dawn Bowman | I really enjoyed Summer Bird Blue when I read it last year, so when I heard that Bowman was releasing her first non-contemporary I was INTRIGUED. From what I can tell, this (a) has a gorgeous artstyle on the cover, (b) follows a girl who dies and ends up in a place called Infinity where she joins with rebels to overthrow an evil virtual servant queen named Ophelia*, and (c), has a jaw-dropping cover featuring a POC. A and C are clearly most important.

*anyone else thinking hamlet? no? uh oh ophelia-

House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland | I finished this one and oh my gosh was it spectacular. Dripping with horror, wit, and imagination, House of Hollow is absolutely fantastic. It follows the youngest of three sisters, who each are not quite…normal. However, after the oldest goes missing, it’s up to the other two sisters to find her as they’re all being stalked by a sort of otherworldly creature.

What Beauty There Is by Cory Anderson | At first, I was unsure if I wanted to read this. But I’ve read a couple of reviews by people I trust who describe this as atmospheric, emotional, and haunting. From what I can tell, this follows a boy named Jack who hunts down the drug money his father was put in prison for to stop his younger brother from going into foster care. It also follows a girl whose father is hunting the same money, and starts chasing Jack.

April 20th

The Forest of Stolen Girls by June Hur | This is from the author of The Silence of Bones, and all I really know is that this follows a girl named Hwani whose father disappears after investigating the disappearances of 13 girls. I don’t know if this is a pure thriller, or a paranormal thriller, but I’m hyped to find out!
