Never Have I Ever…Read A Later Book In A Series Before Reading The First Book!

I’ve done this multiple times, not going to lie. Mostly during my younger years! The one I regret the most, however, is Warriors. The books are split up into separate series of six that you’re still supposed to read in order, and I uh…accidentally started on book 13. Eventually I went back and reread the previous novels but I was most certainly spoiled.
Never Have I Ever…Burned A Book
Yeah, I’ve never done this. Sometimes I wish I could burn all of my math books though. Sadly, it would be a waste of paper.
Never Have I Ever…Read A Book I Knew I Would Hate
I’ve definitely done it in regards to school. Also, when I have an ARC and the reviews aren’t stellar, I still read it anyways because commitments! But I have a feeling it probably won’t be as good as I hoped.
Never Have I Ever…Wrote A Fanfiction About My Favorite Books!
Not about my favorite books. And I’ll leave that at that.
Never Have I Ever…Loved A Book When I Was Younger And Hated It When I Was Older
Nostalgia is a powerful thing, friends. And I’m weak-minded. I don’t know if it’s possible for me to read a book I loved when I was younger and hate it when I’m older haha!
Never Have I Ever… Dressed Up As One Of My Favorite Literary Characters!

I dressed up as Katniss Everdeen once for Halloween! I’d like to try out some cosplay at some point in my life though.
Never Have I Ever…Hated A Book By An Author I Love!

It’s rare for me to actually hate a book, let alone by an author I love. But I have to admit, I think I 3-starred City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare. City of Glass an action-packed conclusion to the original trilogy, Clockwork Angel started basically my favorite series of all time, and then Fallen Angels was just…needlessly boring? Clary and Jace became even more obnoxious versions of themselves, Simon was lowkey uninteresting, and this just lacked the magic of most of her other books.
Never Have I Ever…Gone Into A Store To Buy One Book And Come Out With Many More!
Nope. It’s rare for me to buy books in the first place because well money lol!
Never Have I Ever Read The Ending Of A Book Before The Beginning

I’m not sure if it was this book in particular, but I’m almost certain it was a James Dashner book. I have no idea why I read the ending and I wholeheartedly regret it in retrospect.
Never Have I Ever…Read A Book Without A Dust Cover
Yup! I’ve bought a used book without a dust jacket. Plus, I like to keep my dust jackets as nice as possible so I usually read my hardcovers without them.
Never Have I Ever…Skim Read Half A Book

IN MY DEFENSE, THIS WAS A LONG BOOK. It took me 3 hours to sorta skim-read.
Never Have I Ever…Pretended To Read A Book I Haven’t
No, not really. If I DNF’d a book or skim-read, I’ll usually make it pretty clear. Although I can’t account for whatever younger me did.
Never Have I Ever…Saw The Movie Before Reading The Book

The Hobbit sorta counts…right?
Never Have I Ever…Had A Book Boyfriend
I could be naming a lot of names right now but Will Herondale and Jem Carstairs are by far…they’re Will and Jem okay there’s no explanation.
Never Have I Ever…Read A History Or Anthropology Book For Fun!
Nope! Considering I’m still technically in the phase of life where I have to read history books for school, I haven’t done it for fun yet.
Never Have I Ever…Picked Up A Book Based On The Cover Alone
Honestly, I probably have. I can’t think of a specific instance right now but back when I just roamed the library, reading like 3 books a week, I’m pretty sure I picked up books simply because of a cover.
Never Have I Ever…Bought Multiple Books In A Series Before Starting It
I don’t think so. I bought the sequel to Scythe before reading Scythe but that’s about it.
Never Have I Ever…Kept Reading A Series Even If I Didn’t Love The First Book

Even though I wasn’t head over heels in love with Stalking Jack the Ripper, I still continued on. For three more books until the end of the series.
My Question! Never Have I Ever…Participated In A Readathon!
To which I would answer…I sorta have! Kinda.

Thank you for tagging me 😊 I feel like so many of us have dressed up as Katniss, she’s so iconic 😅 Oh, and Will and Jem totally take the cake for best book characters who stole my heart and then broke it 😭

The only time I’ve read a series without starting on the first book was ‘The Cartel’ by Don Winslow, the second installment of his Border Trilogy, with ‘Power of the Dog’ (1) and ‘The Border’ (3). I picked The Cartel up on a whim, making the most of a ‘buy one get one half price’ deal while buying ‘Napoleon the Great’ (yes, I read history for fun lol).
Now, I’ve just checked again to make sure I’m not just stupid; but there isn’t a single indication on or in the book that it is part of a series. It does, however, tell a story that stood perfectly well on its own — and so I’m kinda glad it didn’t say “Book Two” because I wouldn’t have bought or read it and I thought it was brilliant.

Interesting, I haven’t heard of that one before! Haha did you enjoy Napoleon the Great? History can be fun to read about.
Oh wow! That’s awesome actually!! Glad you gave it a chance and loved it💜

I did! I plan to read both books from that day again. The Cartel I plan to read the trilogy and Napoleon I just found fascinating. A big book but so engaging throughout. In my opinion anyway. 😄

Thanks for tagging me! I’ve read a couple of series out of order, usually by mistake, and funnily enough, Warriors was one of them 😄 I think I started on book 3 or 4 though.
