Hi friends! I’m here to talk about my most anticipated February releases, of which there are so very m a n y. And this is me trying to be picky.
Love in English by Maria E. Andreu | This looks like it’ll be such a love letter to poetry, and language??? But also to different cultures! Basically, this follows a girl who moves from Argentina to New Jersey and she struggles with expressing her thoughts in English. But she meets a girl who is fluent in Spanish and helps her settle in! And a Greek boy named Neo (wait is his name a Matrix reference) who she can fangirl about 80s movies with! And a cute, all-American boy named Harrison! As she settles down, her father accuses her of becoming “too American”. I know that was a really long explanation but THIS SOUNDS SO GOOD.
The Project by Courtney Summers | On the complete opposite side of the last book, I try to avoid summaries of thrillers. But I do know that this is a book, about a girl who’s sister joins a cult, from the author of Sadie. That alone is enough.
Muse by Brittany Cavallaro | I finished reading Cavallaro’s first series, Charlotte Holmes, last year. Her newest book takes place in an alternate American monarchy, during the Chicago World Fair, and it follows a girl who has a “magic touch”. I don’t know what that means but I’m excited anyways.
Fat Chance, Charlie Vega by Crystal Maldonado | This follows a Fat, Brown girl in a white suburb and she has a super supportive best friend, right? But then this guy comes along and asks out Charlie and she’s super excited until she finds out he asked her best friend first. Apparently this deals with a lot of self-esteem issues when you don’t fit societal expectations, and the complexities of friendships! I really, really want to read this.
Game Changer by Neal Shusterman | This is about a football player who gets hit in the head BUT THEN finds himself falling through ever so slightly different alternate universes. I’m actually really intrigued by this, plus, you know, Shusterman wrote Scythe.
Rebel Daughter by Lori Banouv Kaufmann | I know I’ve stated that I struggle with historical fiction before, but this sounds so good?! Basically, this takes place during the fall of Jerusalem, and it follows a girl named Esther who wants so much more than what her parents have planned. But as a war ensues between the Romans and the rebels, an Esther grapples with feelings towards a certain freed Roman, she must decide what her place in the war is. Apparently, this is also well-researched! I’m genuinely excited for this.
Amelia Unabridged by Ashley Schumacher | I believe this follows a girl who is a big fan of an author, but then her best friend gets to meet him, and she doesn’t. They fight, and her best friend is killed in a car accident. I’m pretty sure one day Amelia ends up meeting the author, and…yeah. This seems like it’ll be a really heavy book, and I honestly don’t want to know too much going into it!
So that’s it! There are so many more I could have added, but didn’t because I wanted to keep to the ones I’m most excited for. Share your most anticipated release in the comments below!
