Tag Tuesday: Top 5 Books I’m Most Anticipating in 2021!

Hi friends! I’m back with another Top 5 Tuesday post, hosted by Meeghan @ Meeghan Reads! I’m honestly not totally sure as to what books come out this year? So this list could definitely change as 2021 goes on!

Okay. I know several things about this book. It’s inspired by East Asian mythology, a peasant girl teams up with an exiled prince, a 100% POC cast of characters, and highkey Avatar: The Last Airbender vibes. Also, the author already has up trigger/content warnings on Goodreads. I AM SO EXCITED.

I still haven’t read a single book by this author and I am embarrassed. But this apparently has swords and assassinating and acting? I don’t know, the summary confused me a bit. But I want this anyways!

This is about twin British-Chinese acrobats sailing across the sea on the Titanic. But this story in particular was apparently loosely inspired by recently uncovered accounts of six Titanic survivors of Chinese descent. I am so hyped.

I liked The Silent Patient a lot, so I was already curious to see what the author did next. And then, the synopsis came out hinting at Greek mythology and dark academia and murder. I needed this yesterday.

I have a love-hate relationship with the Red Queen series. But I’ve been waiting so long to see what Victoria Aveyard writes next, and this series sounds so promising! I mean, mysterious immortals? Deadly assassins? PIRATE MOTHERS??? ASDFGHJKL.

So that’s it! I tried to pick some books I haven’t really mentioned much! Tell me your most anticipated books for 2021!

      1. I’ve read the Lunar Chronicles, I loved it. Also, this probably sounds stupid, but I don’t really know what kind of books I like. Though, I think The kind of books I like lean towards dystopian books.

      2. That’s not stupid at all! I’m still learning what kind of books I enjoy, to be perfectly honest. Um, if you don’t mind slower-paced, more reflective dystopian books I’d recommend the Scythe series. It’s about a world where death no longer exists, except by the hands of people called Scythes. It follows two apprentices who are trying to learn how to become Scythes!

  1. Thank you! Also, I’ve already read Scythe, but I agree it’s a good book series. I’m in the middle of the whole mortal instruments series, but it’s reeeeaaaaalllyy long. So sometimes I take breaks, and read other books.

  3. Firstly hey!! How are you? I hope you’re well as it’s been ages. And secondly I hope that you end up enjoying all of these books ❤ I have all of them on my TBR but I can’t remember if it’s just Realm Breaker that’s in my top 30 or not 🙈 I wasn’t aware that the Titanic one was loosely inspired by recently discovered accounts, that’s amazing. And The Maidens sounds so intriguing too.

      1. Glad to hear it (: I didn’t have the best start to the year (my dad somehow caught the virus and gave it to me and my mum) but I’m good now thanks.
I actually read a Titanic book last year so I’d love to read another again (: yes I can’t wait to read it.
