Tag Tuesday: Top 5 Books I’d Rewrite! // is this controversial? maybe…

Hi friends! I’m SO EXCITED for today’s topic because when I think about it, there are quite a few books I’d like to rewrite. Of course, these are all my personal opinions, and every author works hard! Anyways, it’s not like I could rewrite these much better but it’s a nice thought. Don’t forget that Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Bookworm!

Escaping From Houdini!

This is a book that I think could do with a rewrite, mainly, Thomas and Audrey Rose’s relationship. The amount of unneeded angst is ridiculous. WHY CAN’T SOME PEOPLE* JUST GET OVER THEMSELVES AND COMMUNICATE. It really took away from the mystery, which kind of sucked because the atmosphere and setting is so incredible!

*by “some people” i mean “audrey rose”

War Storm!

By rewrite, I mean cut out half the book. There are so many perspectives, and so! much! filler! Even the ending was kind of anticlimactic, especially considering everything that lead up to it. Honestly, this whole series probably could have ended a lot sooner, if certain characters didn’t make the dumbest decisions in the whole wide world.

Truly Devious

Truly Devious has an amazing premise and an incredible cast of characters! But the first book is basically 70% romance and drama and 30% mystery. I require my mysteries to be at least 60% mystery, okay. So back to the drawing board this goes!

Empire of Storms!

y’all are going to disown me…

But if I could rewrite this book purely for myself, I would add in MUCH more diverse characters on all spectrums and leave out the, um, explicit scenes. Both of those aspects are what stops me from properly stanning this series so if they were fixed…it’d be war on my favorites list.

Twilight!

Okay but can you imagine 2019 Twilight? Fresh, unproblematic, diverse, not stupid, actually romantic, with maybe-not-so-sparkly vampires? I WOULD BE SO HAPPY YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW.

And that’s it! Hopefully, you all don’t totally hate me now. Tell me: what books would YOU want to rewrite?

  1. This is an interesting tag and I’ve heard mixed of things for the first three books despite having never read them myself so iy sounds like a rewrite would be good.
I agree about Empire of Storms as I feel like major improvements could have been had for these books.
I’m not sure which books I would rewrite, it is quite a hard question πŸ˜‚

  2. O GOD, GREAT CHOICES! Please rewrite Truly Devious – I cannot stress how much that ending annoyed me… It’s mystery, not romance?! And also please rewrite Twilight – that would be the coolest thing ever – although I have to admit I still watch the movies with my mum from time to time haha!

  3. I haven’t read any of the books on you list, although I have watched the first two Twilight films – too angsty for my grumpy sensibilities! πŸ˜‰
I wimped out of talking about specific books this week and did something different with my T5T. πŸ˜‰ I hope you enjoy the rest of your week. Here’s my Top 5 Tuesday Post

  4. I actually don’t mind explicit scenes in Empire of Storms because I’m me and that’s how I roll (lol), but totally respect your wishes here in that regard. πŸ™‚ I one thousand a million percent agree that the series really needed to be more diverse on all fronts. I mean, one of the things I like about that series is that it’s kind of cliche but that also works against it in a lot of ways too. Great post!
