Tag Tuesday: Top 5 Authors I NEED TO READ // as in, right now before i forget

Hi friends! Welcome back to Top 5 Tuesday, hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Bookworm. Today’s topic is already making me feel super guilty so um let’s start.

Stephen King

Stephen King is one of those authors. You know, the ones that everyone seems to have at least one book and have been turned into major films. Technically, I’ve read the first chapter of IT. I got creeped out, cried, and promptly forgot about it two days later. THAT’S NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

Roshani Chokshi

I’ve heard such incredible things about her writing! I’m a sucker for gorgeous prose so obviously this is a total must on the list.

Victoria Schwab

I kinda DNF’d Vicious…I do plan to go back someday but I really, really wasn’t feeling it at the time. And I only had like maybe 90 pages left? I didn’t click with it like I was hoping but I haven’t given up on this author yet!

Rin Chupeco

This is described as Frozen meets Mad Max and I am confusion but also intrigued??? I know this author also wrote The Bone Witch trilogy which sounds right up my alley! I’m super hyped to check their books out!

Katherine Arden

Another case of me hearing “gorgeous writing” and jumping across rooftops to add this to my TBR! Genuinely one of the authors I’m most excited about about trying on this list, especially considering I haven’t read much with Russian folklore before.

And that’s it! What’s an author that you need to read from?!

  1. The two authors whose books I most need to read are probably V. E. Schwab (I own 7 ebooks of hers) and Marie Lu. They both have books that I literally can not wait for due out next year so I really want to start checking out their other books before then. All of these are on my TBR too though although I have read one Stephen King book so far. I think I’ll probably pick up Salem’s Lot next out of his books but I have a fair few on my TBR… Even though I’m a total wimp when it comes to horror ๐Ÿ˜…

      1. Oh that’s a shame and thank you โ˜บ๏ธ I think I’ll probably start with The Young Elites as I have it on my Kindle. I read Misery. My dad used to own a copy so it was just sitting on the shelf and I thought ‘ooh obsessive character, interesting’…. Scary or disturbing was actually the word ๐Ÿ˜… he has so many books that I never know where to begin either tbh but I’ve settled on Salem’s Lot because it contains vampires ๐Ÿ˜… oh just as a heads up I’ve been told that it’s better to read The Bill Hodge trilogy before The Outsider (thats another that’s high on my TBR).

  2. If it makes you feel better about DNFing Vicious, V writes a lot of stuff, and you may like her other work more. I know someone who can’t stand the Shades of Magic series but attached immediately to Vicious, and I’m sure some folks are the other way around. And that doesn’t even factor in her YA and MG stuff. Don’t sweat it!

  3. Some really good authors you have there. I love Victoria Schwab, but I wasn’t feeling Vicous either. However, Shades of Magic is one of my favorite series ever, so I’m happy to see you haven’t given up on her. I hope you end up liking some of her books.
I’m currently reading the last book in the Winternight trilogy by Kathrine Arden and that writing is just to die for. I definitely relate to your “jumping across rooftops” for that kind of writing.

  4. I really love Roshani Chokshi! I can’t wait to the sequel to The Gilded Wolves comes out because I’m interested to see how it goes. I did prefer her other two YA novels better (Star-Touched Queen is my fave) but she’s a solid writer for sure. ๐Ÿ™‚
