Hello, guilt my old friend. I’m kind of silently screaming myself because I just can’t finish Lord of Shadows* and Cassie keeps releasing books and I WAS ALMOST CAUGHT UP. And yet, here we are.
*not because i wasn’t enjoying it! more because that thing’s a brick
I three-starred this book, okay. I thought the main character was annoying, the romance didn’t hook me, and the plot…actually the plot was kind of interesting. But everyone sings the praises of the later books and I want to know what the hype is all about. Yes, I have no willpower.
A series that I scream about all the time and yet…I’ve only read the first book. I’m an awful human. On the bright side, The Toll isn’t even out yet so can you blame me that much???
I’m pretty sure that there’s already two books out that I haven’t read and I mean, what is wrong with me. This is one of my favorite middle-grade series and I don’t think I’m ready to leave behind this world or the characters.
I’ve only got one thing to say to this entry…
I’m pretty sure Mushu was thinking of me and my failed reading when he said this.

Awesome post!!! And aaaaaah, I can totally understand why you’re struggling with Lord of Shadows – it’s HUGE! But OMG I think you’ll love hate the ending and then also Queen of Air and Darkness!!! And I have to read Lockwood as well! You recommended it to me like 2 years ago and I really want to start it at some point! And guilty as well: I have to read Thunder Head!!

What I’m guilty of with books on your list isn’t needing to finish the series so much as needing to finish the first book.
I started both The School for Good and Evil and Scythe and was really enjoying both books but ended up having to put them down for one reason or another and then just never got around to finishing them. I keep telling myself that I’ll get to it soon but it’s probably been at least 6 months now – oops! 🙊

I still have to finish all the Cassandra Clare books- the covers are a bit weird so I didn’t really get to read them (#judgyfam)
BUT I still want to plow through them all!

The original Mortal Instruments covers are AWFUL, let’s be real😂😂 but I think you’d enjoy the story once you got past the first couple of books! I’d recommend reading in publication order😊
And yes same, Mushu is the best!

I shudder to think of all the series I need to finish LOL. These all seem like great ones, I haven’t started any of them. It’s tempting to check them out, but I should probably concentrate on the ones I need to finish first before I start new ones. (I mean, I should, but I probably won’t). 🙂
