Tag Tuesday | Top 5 Books I Couldn’t Put Down!!!

Hi friends! Today’s topic is one that I’m really excited for, because I have the attention span of Dory and I need good book recommendations, so I can’t wait to see everyone’s picks! Don’t forget this is hosted by the amazing Shanah @ Bionic Bookworm!

MINI-CLIFFHANGERS AT THE END OF EACH CHAPTERS. I have no willpower for such things, and yet Spectacle had so many. Parts of this book were slow but I just inhaled all the words like I was that starved wolf in Red Riding Hood*.

*speaking of that story, why would the wolf want to eat Red and her grandma when he could eat all those freshly baked pastries????? THAT, my friends, is the true crime of that story

Okay look. The first book in this series has a lot of issues. Like a lot. But honestly, I physically couldn’t put this down. I dragged it everywhere with me which is saying a lot because of the original cover*. By the time I reached that one chapter in the hotel I just gave up on food, sleep, and normal human stuff in favor of vampires, werewolves, and glitter.

*you know which one I’m talking about. The cover you don’t want to be seen in public with for REASONS

I’ve spoken before on how I’m not the biggest fan of this series but when I first discovered Booktube and saw this everywhere, I had to try it. And so I read the first book ridiculously fast, and then the next three are really just a blur of pages and shipping and laughter. Regardless of my current thoughts on these books, I still remember the pure addictiveness of them.

I JUST REREAD THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME GUYS. It was just as good as the first time and powerful and emotional and AGH. LOVE. This is all about grief, and loss, so be aware this isn’t a light read. But it is short and it draws you in so fully. Patrick Ness is a wizard with words. The new Harry Potter*.

*just kidding I’M JUST KIDDING GUYS

I know Twilight is technically trash, at least in many people’s opinions. But listen, 13 year old me recognized it as trash but also read and read and read it. I woke up early to read it*. And raced through the second and was too disturbed by spoilers from the rest of the series to finish but anyways Twilight was unputdownable.

*which i never do because i don’t do mornings

So that’s it! Hopefully at least one of these choices surprised you haha. Drop some unputdownable book recs in the comments below!

  1. I agree with your entire list! A Monster Calls I read within one hour…… and I was broken for WEEKS! And Twilight……. I picked it up on my honeymoon and ignored my new husband until I finished it…… I still feel bad about that but I loved it! Thanks for participating 🙂

  2. A Monster Calls is seriously one of the best books. I’m not typically an emotional person, but I finished reading it after Sunday dinner at my in-laws and I had to put a pillow over my face and have a little cry. That was before I had a kid, though, so I’m sure I would be bawling the whole time now haha.

  3. Nice list! I’ve been thinking of reading Spectacle. City of Bones and Throne of Glass were both amazing!!! I need to start the second books for both series soon.
Some book I couldn’t put down are We Were Liars by E. Lockhart, And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, Little Monsters by Kara Thomas (really recommend), If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio, and the whole Legend series by Marie Lu.

  4. I totally agree on the TOG books. There are some flaws (I ranted about that enough) but the story certainly draws you in so much that you just can’t put the novels down. It was the same for me!

  5. Ahh, I *LOOOOVE* A Monster Calls. It’s incredibly powerful, and it is definitely one of my favorite books of all time. Any book that can make me ugly-cry is seriously worth it. 😉 ❤
