Hi friends! Yeah yeah yeah, I know, this is super late. I really need to be better about writing wrap-ups and TBRs this year. Who knows if it will actually happen?
Now onto the four (yes, four) books I read in December!
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee | I read this for school, which if you know me usually translates to “it sucked and I wanted to throw it into a Dumpster”. However, I LOVED this! The story was incredibly powerful, the characters memorable, and the writing was actually fairly modern? I was pleasantly surprised by this one, to say the least! 5/5 stars!
Spectacle by Jodie Lynn Zdrok | This is going to be the author’s debut novel, which you can sorta tell, but honestly? Jodie did such an incredible job of creating an interesting plot and some pretty flipping awesome psychic-y powers. I literally kept swiping and inhaling words because I was so addicted! 5/5 stars!
The Mummy’s Curse by Youzaburou Kanari and Sato Fumiya | My first ever manga! I was on a rollercoaster ride in the second half of the book, flipping pages hysterically because everyone kept getting murdered and revelations were happening and I was having a self-realization moment at how dumb I was to not see any of it coming. On that note, I will say that I wanted to see more of the reasoning behind his deductions and I wish the female character was less of a plot point. So 4/5 stars!
Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare | SHADOWHUNTERS. This was by far the slowest of her novels but I think that it was a clever move on her part, considering the HUGE cast of characters! But by the time the second half hit, I was emotionally distraught and then suddenly hit by a barrage of plot twists. And more emotion. AND LAUGHTER. Seriously, Mark Blackthorn is hilarious. 5/5 stars!
So that’s it! What books did you read in December? My favorite of the month was (unsurprisingly) Lady Midnight! What’s yours?
