TBR Lows and Highs #2

Hi friends! I absolutely love this meme, and it’s hosted by the amazing Destiny!

Rules:

  • Link back to the original post at Howling Libraries
  • Sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, ascending
  • Find 5-10 (or more, if you feel ambitious!) titles to purge from your TBR (the “lows”)
  • Post those 5 books in the list, with a brief explanation of why you removed it
  • Next, sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, descending
  • List the last 5 (or more!) books you added to your TBR, with a synopsis or your brief summary of why you added it (the “highs”)

The Lows

The Fates Divide by Veronica Roth | I totally forgot everything about the first one. I mean, the cover IS gorgeous but my goldfish memory and the fact that I’m not going to waste my precious time rereading a book I can’t remember crap about = goodbye book.

Avenged by Amy Tintera| LOOK. The first one was okay…but I’m in it for the true love not the mediocre…relationships. Between books. Y’all know what I’m saying*.

*metaphors, similes, THEY ALL ESCAPE MY BRAINPOWER

Goodbye Days by Jeff Zentner | I’m actually kinda on the fence about this one? Like, it sounds good and it has good reviews but contemporary. I never lean towards those because I’m that weird introvert in the corner.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone| I ADORED Strange the Dreamer* and I really want to read Muse of Nightmares, but I really don’t feel like reading a high fantasy series right now, not like this one. So audios, amigo!

Girls Made of Snow and Glass by Melissa Bashardoust | I don’t know if I actually ever knew what this is officially about but I think this is a retelling? But with the amount of retellings coming out every year, I don’t really think I’ll have time for this.

The Highs

Stepsister by Jennifer Donnelly | This comes out in May 2019 but it sounds SO GOOD. It’s about Cinderella’s stepsister* (obviously) but I believe it’s truer to the Brothers Grimm story than the Disney one. AND THAT COVER THO

*I wasn’t kidding about all the retellings

A Winter’s Promise by Christelle Dabos| This is a hugely best-selling novel in France, and I have a weakness for France.

TMI Graphic Novel Volume 2 by Cassandra Clare with art by Cassandra Jean | Well, after realizing that I am complete Shadowhunter trash and this book was coming out and MUST HAVE IT.

The Lost Sisters by Holly Black | I didn’t know this was coming out??? But then I saw reviews and I was like “welp I’m a sheltered child living under a rock” so this is a huge win!

Red Winter by Annette Marie | MYTHOLOGY. JAPENESE. PRETTY COVER. And also random fact: you put a season (winter, fall, spring, summer…that’s it) and magic together? I AM SOLD.

This was great! I just added all of these this week, and I’m super excited to read all of them! Tell me: what books should I prioritize? Should I take others off my TBR? And what is your favorite cover? Catch ya later, au revoir!
